Update frenzy!!!!!

Wow two updates in a week or so......this may actually turn into a blog.

A few new things I'll be adding are Myspace links to some bands in addition to; or instead of vids
as they give you a bit more info and usually 3 or 4 songs to listen to.

I don't use it myself, just not my thing. As a tool for finding some good bands it's really useful

Right then, ATP have just announced a show in conjunction with Capsule
at the Custard Factory in Brum on 1st November, with some very unique bands on
Its called Release the Bats, and is highly recommended.

Here's a couple of the bands appearing

Firstly Wooden Shjips , very psych/prog stuff and quite wonderful

The headliners are Shellac, fronted by one Steve Albini, who if you like most the stuff I post on here will aready be familiar with I'm sure

Here's a couple more bands not playing at this event

Torche some psych/stoner rock, nice groovy stuff and lots of songs to hear on their Myspace page

Last one for now is a band called Genghis Tron, It's pretty hard to describe these guys
so just listen and see what you think

be back soon with more horrors, time for tea, biccy's and some raging speedhorn

It's time for some more tunes to make you go "WTF!!!"

Soulfly are back with a new album very soon, if you like it crunchy/thrashy/punky
I'd recommend it

Next up the bluesy noise of Oxbow

Dr Acula are pretty out there kinda gridcore/dance
Def music to piss of the neigbours

This one is a bit out there too, but in a totally different way
It's Devendra Banhart and its got Natalie Portman in it so you know why I like it

Getting even more mellow Peter Tosh - Legalize It

Oh no, more Rollins!!!
Well I've been listening to "The End of Silence" (all rock fans should own this) a lot recently and found some great live clips
but this one is my fav, It's actually on the album "Do It" and I certainly understand what he's on about

Brujeria - live- Colas De Rata I'm sure one of those blokes used to drink in costermongers

One more for the road
some nice psychedelia from Voivod with a cover of a Pink Floyd classic
Astronomy domine

more will come soon I'm sure

Here we go................

Lots of new bands, old bands and downright odd stuff for you the lucky viewer

First up Pendulum with their dance/rock hybrid style, turn up the bass to get the full effect.
I've picked "Propane Nightmares" of the current album

Next up, one of my current favourite bands Baroness from the USA.
They play very powerful heavy stuff, but with a really good ear for melody and some outstanding musicians. The drums are thunderous and the vocals weave in out out of the mix as the tune demands. They cross alot of genres alt/rock/metal/prog and are all the better for it.
This one is off their current disc "Red Album" It's called "Isak"

Time for a few linked vids, If i embed them all the page will take forever to load.

Seasick Steve has been around for a while, just one man with a guitar and a stomp box
live at Glastonbury last weekend with "Chiggers".

Next up Battles with Atlas some call it math rock, I just call it -"interesting".

Bit of an oldie next. Some Bikini Kill from 1992 showing true punk spirit.
I loved them at the time, and still do now, powerful emotive stuff; this is a little compilation of a few songs live at an outdoor show in washington dc - Live wdc

Next up Kylesa, some spacey stoner rock from Savannah,Georgia; here's one the heavier and faster tracks off "Time Will Fuse Its Worth" called "hollow server"

What else have I got for you?

Try some Snuff, not the films or the stuff you stick up your nose. Here's London's finest modern punk outfit with "theme from whatever happened to the likely lads"

couple more quick links

Have some Kimberley Freeman better known as One Eyed Doll - "hoochie mama"
Just her and a drummer make quite a noise, a very groovy lady.

Om (part one is 9 Min's, think you get the Idea).

Watch out for these guys (and girl) later in the year Rolo Tomassi.

Some older Nick Cave and the bad seeds - "I had a dream Joe".

To finish off, here's one of my fav bands, the pretty traditional metal sounding
Arch Enemy live with "Diva Satanica"

Ill be back next week with more, unfortunately.

be well

Woody

It's back........again........for keeps

A little bit of a re-launch of my musical nightmare.

Ooh lovely new logo, different headache inducing colours but the same odd/strange/unlistenable tunes as before

I am also working on a stand-alone proper site, with its own woody sessions url not a blog type affair and a proper layout all designed by photoshop/dreamweaver hand.
But these things take time, and I'm a total perfectionist when designing stuff so I wouldn't hold your breath - maybe up before Christmas though.

First new music post will be up sometime later today. I'm gonna try to embed some videos onto the page, but a lot of these free blog sites get all shirty with embedded links unless there perfect.

Keep the faith and the tunes will be here soon.
